In a stunning turn of events at Old Trafford, Manchester United faced a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth, marking the visitors’ first-ever victory at the iconic stadium. The final whistle was met with boos from the home crowd, expressing their disappointment with a lackluster performance reminiscent of the darker days under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

The turning point of the match came in the 67th minute, when Bournemouth capitalized on a loose Luke Shaw pass. Dominic Solanke swiftly fed Marcus Tavernier on the left, who delivered a precise cross for substitute Philip Billing. The towering header from Billing left United goalkeeper André Onana helpless, securing Bournemouth’s second goal.

The misery continued for Manchester United as Marcos Sensi added insult to injury with another header, extending Bournemouth’s lead to 3-0. This marked the first time the Cherries had scored more than one goal in a league match at Old Trafford, and the visiting fans couldn’t contain their joy as some of the home support left in disappointment.

The initial blow came early in the fifth minute when Dominic Solanke found the back of the net. Despite a late VAR intervention disallowing Dango Ouattara’s goal due to handball, Bournemouth had already secured a comprehensive victory.

The defeat raised questions about the consistency and unpredictability of Erik ten Hag’s side. After an impressive 2-1 win against Chelsea just days earlier, the lackluster performance against Bournemouth reinforced the enigmatic nature of the team. Supporters were left wondering which version of the team would show up on any given match day.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth celebrated a historic win, securing 13 points from the last 15 available. The victory added to the sense of optimism surrounding the Cherries, contrasting sharply with the frustration and uncertainty enveloping Manchester United.

The defeat leaves United with a goal difference of minus three from nine wins and seven defeats, further fueling the discussions surrounding the team’s direction under Ten Hag.
