Severe storms wreaked havoc in central Tennessee, claiming six lives and injuring about two dozen people. The Clarksville fire department shared images of damaged houses and flipped vehicles, depicting the aftermath of the storm. A mobile home was tossed onto another residence, resulting in the tragic deaths of Joseph Dalton, Floridema Gabriel Perez, and her 2-year-old son, Anthony Elmer Mendez. Two children from the affected homes were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a tornado touchdown around 2 p.m., and a shelter was set up at a local high school. Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts declared a state of emergency and urged residents to stay home, emphasizing the extensive damage. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee expressed condolences and called for adherence to guidance from local and state officials. Shanika Washington, a resident in the impacted area, described the terrifying experience of taking shelter with her children during the storm. Numerous tornado warnings were issued in Tennessee, with plans to survey an area in Kentucky affected by an apparent tornado. Power outages affected over 80,000 customers in Tennessee. This disaster occurred almost two years after a series of tornadoes hit several states, claiming 81 lives in Kentucky alone.
