In a high-stakes auction for the Women’s Premier League 2024, India’s all-rounder Kashvee Gautam emerged as the most expensive uncapped player, fetching an impressive ₹2 crore. The fierce bidding war involved the Gujarat Giants, RCB, and UP Warriorz, with the Gujarat Giants ultimately securing the talented player.

Australia’s Annabel Sutherland stole the spotlight as the priciest foreign player in the 2024 WPL auctions, with the Delhi Capitals clinching her for ₹2 crore after a heated battle against the Gujarat Titans, who had numerous spots to fill.

The auction showcased intense bidding from representatives of five teams—Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, and UP Warriorz. Indian batter Vrinda Dinesh attracted multiple offers and was eventually sold to UP Warriorz for ₹1.3 crore. The Gujarat Titans, looking to fill the maximum spots, also invested in high-value player Phoebe Litchfield, securing her for ₹1 crore.

South Africa’s pace sensation, Shabnim Ismail, generated significant interest, with the Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians engaged in a tough fight. The defending champions, the Mumbai Indians, emerged victorious, acquiring Ismail for ₹1.2 crore.

Kashvee Gautam’s journey to becoming the most expensive uncapped player showcased resilience and determination. Despite going unsold in the previous year’s WPL auctions, the right-arm seamer worked on improving her pace and sought constant feedback from team scouts. Her outstanding performance in this year’s Women’s T20 trophy, where she secured 12 wickets across seven matches with an impressive economy rate of 4.14, justified her high valuation in the current auctions
